CHIANG MAI ESCAPE - From Bangkok

Travel overnight to the northern city of Chiang Mai and discover vibrant markets, a refreshingly cool climate and some truly stunning scenery. Within easy reach are lush jungles to explore, remote hill tribes to visit and more than 300 temples to admire.

Day 1 - Travel from your Bangkok accommodation and board your overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai. Your first class cabin has upper and lower berths and its own wash basin by night whilst by day it's a comfortable seated compartment. Each carriage has use of a shared bathroom.

Day 2 - Arrive into Chiang Mai in the morning when you disembark you'll be met and transferred to the Furama Hotel in the city. You have the rest of the day free to explore at your own pace.

Day 3 - After breakfast head north to visit the working elephant camp at Mae Saa where you can see how these mighty creatures work and are still very much an essential part of Thai life. Afterwards visit a hill tribe village, and return to Chang Mai for an afternoon of leisure.

Day 4 - After breakfast transfer to the station for your return journey to Bangkok, the daytime train is a sprinter service with reclining seats and air conditioning so you can take in the scenery en route to the Thai capital . When you arrive you'll be met and transferred to your Bangkok hotel or the airport to continue with your holiday.
