The bustling resort town of Pattaya is located around 2 hours from Bangkok on the shore of the Bay of Bangkok. You will find long stretches of beach and plenty of watersports on offer, plus plenty of boutiques, bars and restaurants, and a buzzing nightlife.
A similar distance south west of Bangkok and facing the Gulf of Thailand are the quieter and more relaxed resorts of Cha'am and Hua Hin. With long stretches of silver sands, these two small fishing ports became the holiday playgrounds of the Thai Royal Family during the last century and both retain much of their traditional charm.
