Bangkok
Most travellers start off their Thailand holiday in Bangkok as this is truly the main hub for getting around the country. A modern and exuberant capital city, Bangkok is also rooted in its past. If you visit Bangkok on holidays to Thailand, you'll be delighted at the floating market and ancient temples, as well as the chic nightlife and dazzling Central World mall - home to over 500 shops and boutiques.
Northern Thailand
Further north is rural Thailand and the city of Chiang Mai from where you can explore fantastic countryside, visit hill tribe villages and temples. Its lofty position means the climate is refreshingly cool compared with Bangkok.
Away from the main centre you’ll find life is little changed by the passing years and the region has its own distinct culture and traditions. A great way to see Northern Thailand is to include an exciting small group tour within your itinerary.
Islands & Beaches
No visit would be complete, however, without a stay by one of Thailand's wonderful beaches. Some of the best are on the holiday island of Phuket, a favourite with UK visitors. You'll find some shopping and nightlife there around the lively town of Patong, but there are plenty of quiet resorts around the island as well.
Smaller and more personal is the nearby island of Phi Phi or the tropical island resort of Koh Samui on Thailand's east coast. On the mainland the fashionable holiday towns of Krabi, Hua Hin and Cha'am offer great locations for a relaxed and romantic beach holiday.
