This is a popular beachfront hotel which blends contemporary style with Malaysian traditions of hospitality. It is located right on Batu Ferringi beach and just a short drive from Georgetown and around 50 minutes from the airport. There are a good range of facilities to keep you occupied and outside the hotel there are shops as well as an interesting night market.

If you would like to explore a little further do visit Penang Hill and travel by the famous funicular railway the views from the top are spectacular and you will soon see why the island is known as Pearl of the Orient.

Shangri-La Golden Sands

The resort is located in its own large tropical gardens on Batu Ferringi beach around 20 minutes from Georgetown and convenient for the airport. This is a consistently popular choice with families due to its excellent range of activities and family friendly atmosphere. 

The large swimming pool is the centrepiece of the gardens which lead down to the long golden beach. Outside the hotel there are shops and a few cafés and a trip to the capital Georgetown is a must. The hotel offers good quality accommodation and facilities to match.

Eastern & Oriental Hotel

This wonderful old hotel lies in the heart of Georgetown and was first opened by the Sarkies brothers in 1885 who also owned Raffles in Singapore at the time. Lovingly restored by the current owners the hotel epitomises the grandeur and elegance of days gone by.

A stay here gives you the chance to explore Penang’s historic capital with its many fine old buildings rubbing shoulders with modern neighbours.

Many famous guests have stayed at the Eastern & Oriental Hotel including Noel Coward, Rudyard Kipling and Somerset Maugham. Although it is not on the beach it is set right beside the sea and from the pool and sundeck you can hear the waves washing the shore.
