A romantic holiday island off the north west coast of Malaysia, Langkawi boasts perfect beaches, washed by the warm waters of the Andaman Sea. The lush rainforest interior gives way to rice paddies and miles of protected mangrove swamps, which can be explored on a day cruise.
You’ll find good shopping in Kuah Town or in the lively Cenang Beach area and Langkawi is a duty free island so you’ll find it’s just the place to pick up a bargain. If you are planning on exploring independently you might like to hire a car, driving around is easy and in Malaysia they drive on the left too.
