This is a great introduction to the highlights of the region with plenty of free time to relax in between sightseeing. You’ll pass through wonderful scenery and be able to absorb a little of the local culture.

Kuching – Batang Ai – Miri – Mulu National Park – Kota Kinabalu

Day 1
On arrival in Kuching you will be met and transferred to your hotel where the rest of the day is at leisure. 

Day 2
After breakfast head for Semenggok Orang-utan sanctuary where you will be able to see how these shy and gentle apes are cared for. Orang-utans are South East Asia’s only great ape and are endangered you’ll be amazed as they swing through the trees.

Later travel to Batang Ai, passing through quaint little towns and villages and stunning countryside. After lunch you take a boat ride to your overnight accommodation.

Day 3
Take a thrilling ride by motorised longboat to visit a traditional Longhouse The journey  will take you across the lake into the Engkari River, before arriving at Mengkak Longhouse which is nestled on a hill beside the river. Enjoy a short cultural performance and a blow pipe demonstration. After lunch there may be time for a short jungle walk around the grounds of the longhouse.

Day 4
Depart for Kuching airport for your flight to Miri, and the start of your journey to Mulu National Park. On arrival in Miri you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 5
Make an early start for your flight to Mulu, on arrival travel to the National Park where you will be able to take a 3 km plank walk though the rainforest to the entrance of Deer Cave.

The entrance is the largest in the world and you might be lucky enough to see the flight of many thousands of bats as they head out to feed. Afterwards travel to Lang Cave famous for its stalagmites and stalactites. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight. 

Day 6
Head out in an open longboat to explore Wind and Clearwater caves making a stop at a local Penan Village en route. Wind Cave is famous for its rock formations whilst Clearwater as the name implies is great for swimming in the shade of the rainforest. Enjoy lunch al fresco and then travel back hotel for overnight.

Day 7
Morning at leisure until you depart for the airport for your flight to Kota Kinabalu.

On arrival in Kota Kinabalu you will be met and transferred to your hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure. 

Day 8-9  
Enjoy some free time to relax and enjoy your surroundings, explore the lovely sandy beaches or pamper yourself in the spa the choice is yours.

Day 10
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your onward flight. You may like to combine this tour with somewhere else in Malaysia or perhaps another country in Asia.
