Day 1

On arrival in Kota Kinabalu you will be met and travel to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure. If time permits you may like to take an optional city tour or simply explore at your own pace. 

Day 2

After breakfast set off for Kinabalu Park taking in the fabulous scenery along the way. When you arrive there is a guided nature walk which will show you the diverse flora and fauna or the area. Afterwards you can take a dip in the Poring Hot Springs followed by a spectacular canopy walk high above the forest floor. The trail is quite steep but gives the most fantastic views of the life of the rainforest and its inhabitants. After lunch travel to Sabah Tea Garden where you stay in a traditional longhouse.

Day 3

Make an early start for a walk to see the sunrise over Mount Kinabalu and the surrounding tea plantations. After breakfast travel to Sukau where you’ll take a short boat ride to your riverside lodge. Later in the afternoon travel up river to see wildlife and birds in their virgin mangrove and rainforest habitat.  You might be lucky enough to see the famous Proboscis Monkey as they swing from the trees before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

Wake up early to the calls of nature this morning! Cruise on the river to view birds and primates on their early morning adventures. Weather permitting you can take a jungle trek before breakfast. The rest of the day is at leisure until the early evening when you head out along the river in search of inhabitants of the forest before dinner at the lodge.

Day 5

After breakfast travel to Sandakan making a quick stop at the Gomantong Cave along the way. After lunch and check in at your lodge travel to Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary where you’ll learn about these fascinating primates. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 6

This morning you head off to Turtle Island after breakfast, board your boat at the jetty for short cruise to the island. Once you have checked in you can relax and explore the island, snorkel, swim or simply soak up some sun. In the evening you’ll be called to witness the fascinating spectacle of turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs. You may also be lucky enough to have some little ones ready for release for their first journey into the sea.

Day 7

It’s time to bid farewell to the island and its turtles and head back to Sandakan after breakfast. On arrival you’ll take a city tour showing you the water village, central market and Buddhist temple. After lunch travel to the airport for your flight to Kuching where you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax and explore.

Day 8 

Your adventure continues with the journey to Batang Ai, you’ll pass quaint towns, villages and plantations along the way. After a lunch stop you’ll arrive at your hotel on the banks of a lake. If time permits you can take a nature walk to explore the surrounding area.

Day 9

Travel by boat across the lake and into the Engkari River before arriving at a traditional longhouse where you’ll have a blowpipe demonstration and cultural performance. After lunch take a short walk and then travel back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 10 

This morning travel back to Kuching for a 3 night stay to relax and enjoy the beach. where the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 13

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
