Day 1 to 3 - Saigon & Mekong Delta
On arrival in to Saigon you will meet your Trip Manager and fellow travellers before you visit the Ben Thanh markets for your first cultural experience. Over the next few days you will journey into the Mekong Delta learning about local history and traditions as you go. Cruise through the Delta on a traditional boat as you pass by local fruit farms, floating markets and everyday life on Vietnam's waterways. The legendary Cu Chi Tunnels are an important part of Vietnam's history; you'll get to experience this first hand on your way back to Saigon.
Day 4 - Saigon to Nha Trang
Today you'll get further insight in to Vietnam's history with a tour of the city. You will visit the Notre Dame Cathedral; a relic left from French rule, the Reunification Palace which is the former political heart of the country and finally the War Remnants Museum for a sobering insight in to the victims of the Vietnam War. In the afternoon you'll be heading for the airport to catch a flight to Nha Trang, a region famous for its golden beaches and turquoise waters.
Day 5 - Nha Trang
Spend your day relaxing on the beach and enjoy the sun and sea. If you want something more active, there's a chance to visit the offshore islands on an optional island cruise. With great swimming and snorkelling opportunities off the island of Hon Mun, it's a fun way to explore the area. In the evening find a waterfront bar to watch the sun set over the ocean before getting a taste of Nha Trang's nightlife.
Day 6 to 8 - Hoi An
After a short flight to Da Nang, travel onward to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Hoi An. You'll get a real feel for this magnificent town when a local guide walks you through the Old Quarter. Hoi An is known for its beautiful cloths and colourful silks and there is an abundance of tailors ready to whip up made to order clothes in record breaking time. Spend the next day here at your own leisure, there is plenty to do in and around the town. Maybe take a visit the Hindu temples of the Champa Empire at My Son, explore the galleries and antique shops of the old town, or simply take the chance to relax on palm fringed the beach.
Day 8 - Hue
Travel through the 'Pass of the Ocean Clouds' today as the group makes its way to the former imperial city of Hue, keep your camera handy for the incredible coastal views and rolling green hills along the way. Visit the Tu Duc Mausoleum, where you will walk around the intricately decorated pavilions, lush gardens and lotus flower ponds, whilst being taught the story of the poet Emperor and ancient burial rites. The final stop in Hue is the 7-story Thien Mu Pagoda, here you will learn about the legend behind its construction and the events surrounding the infamous Hue Buddhist massacre.
Day 9 to 11 - Hanoi & Halong Bay
After a short flight to Hanoi, spend your first day here wandering the maze of back streets, merchant houses, and shops loaded with colourful items to take back home for your friends and family. Afterwards escape the busy streets and visit the Temple of Literature - a quiet haven of walled gardens, red-lacquered pillars and golden painted dragons.
The next day, you'll need to rise early to visit the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh - former president of Vietnam, before we embark on a picturesque drive to Halong Bay where you'll board a Chinese-style junk boat for an overnight cruise through the stunning waters. Relax on board as you sail crystal clear waters passing limestone cliffs, grottos, caves and thick forests. There'll be an opportunity to cool off with a swim in a remote lagoon before the boat docks at Dao Ti Top for sunset.
On your final day cruise back to port before returning to Hanoi where you can enjoy some free time to explore the French Quarter or enjoy the world-famous water puppet performance - a quirky tradition from the region of the Red River Delta.
Day 12 - Farewell
Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, say farewell to your new friends today, then travel back to the airport for your flight home to the UK with memories you will treasure for a lifetime.
