Day 1 - Beijing
On arrival check into your hotel and let your Chinese adventure begin. Spend your afternoon getting your first taste of this city and later that evening head back to your hotel where you'll meet your fellow travellers and Trip manager who will be showing you the sights and sounds of China for the next 12 days.
The next day you will head out of the city and visit the Sacred Way, the entrance to the tombs of the Ming Emperors. After a delicious lunch it's time for an unbeatable experience with a visit to one of the world's most famous monuments, the Great Wall of China. In the evening explore the Wangfujing Night Market for authentic Chinese cuisine; your trip manager can also give you some tips on where to head out if you want to experience the party scene in Beijing.
On your final day in Beijing take a guided tour of Tiananmen
Square, here you'll see Chairman Mao's Mausoleum and the Forbidden
City, a place full of treasures and ancient buildings. Later on you
will visit the 798 Art District before visiting the home of the
2008 Summer Olympics, where you'll see the iconic Birds Nest
Day 4 - Beijing to Xi'an
Spend your last morning in Beijing as you please - for great shopping head to the Silk market, there is also the Beijing Zoo to see the animals that China is well known for such as Golden Snub-nosed monkeys, Manchurian Tigers and of course the Giant Panda. Afterwards take a rickshaw through the traditional Hutong areas and visit the Temple of Heaven.
Tonight we take an overnight train to Xi'an.
Day 5 - Xi'an
After breakfast, meet with your local guide and take a tour of the world famous Terracotta Army. Marvel at the incredible collection of terracotta sculptures of the armies of the Quin Shi Huang, one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. Get on two wheels an cycle the ancient Xi'an City Walls before exploring the Muslim Quarter with plenty of time to shop and taste the local specialities at the bustling bazaar. In the evening enjoy a traditional Shui Jia dumpling meal followed by a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing.
Day 6 - Xi'an to Chengdu
A short flight takes to Chengdu, a city dotted with teahouses and an expanding student culture. The highlight of your stay here will be a visit to a panda sanctuary to see these iconic animals.
Day 8 - Yangshuo
Catch a flight to Guilin and travel on to Yangshuo, located amongst the limestone karsts on the Li River. On arrival take a look around the town and with a free night tonight head to a local bar or shop at the late night markets.
With a full free day today, spend your time doing your own thing. You could try a local cooking school or head out on foot and climb one of the local hills in the area. Tonight there is the option of the Impressions Liu Sanjie Show - set on the local mountains and river with light displays, music and over 600 performers.
Day 10 - Shanghai
Today it's a change of scenery as we fly to Shanghai and soak up the city views from the 88th floor of the Jin Mao Tower. You can even send a postcard from one of the highest post offices in the world!Spend your morning shopping Shanghai-style as you visit the City God Temple (Chenghuang Maio) for a great selection of shops, restaurants and tea houses and afterwards stop off at the Bund, Shanghai's famous promenade.
Day 12 - Farewell
It's time to swap addresses, emails and numbers this morning as your China adventure comes to an end.
