Yichang | Three Gorges | Chongqing
Winding its way across China, the Yangtze River has for thousands of years been at the heart of Chinese life, relied on for water, irrigation and transport. This cruise travels through the most picturesque section between Yichang and Chongqing and includes the amazing Three Gorges.
Day 1 - Yichang
On arrival into Yichang you will transfer to your cruise ship, your home for the next four nights. Victoria Cruises offer a modern fleet with frequent departures and cabins that have floor to ceiling windows and a small balcony from which to enjoy the scenery. This evening set sail from Yichang, the economic and cultural centre of Hubei Province.
Day 2 - Three Gorges Dam & Xiling Gorge
This morning enjoy a tour of the Three Gorges Dam, the largest in the world and a feat of modern engineering. Later sail upstream through some of the most spectacular scenery in the world to Xiling Gorge which, at 41 miles is the longest, as well as the deepest on the river.
Day 3 - Wu & Qutang Gorge
Board a small boat for a fun ride up Shennong Stream Small Gorges, a tributary of the Yangtze with its own attractive scenery. Enter Wu Gorge, known for its quiet beauty and forest covered mountains where the sun barely penetrates, before sailing through Qutang Gorge which, at 500 feet, is the narrowest and most dramatic.
Day 4 - Fengdu or relocation villages
Today take a shore excursion to Shibaozhai with its impressive wooden pagoda. Depending on river conditions this may be substituted with a visit to a relocation village built for families who were moved as a result of the Yangtze's rising waters after the building of the Three Gorges Dam, or the 'Ghost City' known for its statues of ghosts on Mingshan Hill. This evening enjoy a captain's farewell dinner.
Day 5 - Chongqing
This morning sail into Chongqing and disembark for your transfer to the airport.
